Diversity & Inclusivity

The path of diversity and inclusivity (D&I) is a journey and requires a mindset of always learning, openness to transformative change, and vulnerability to not only trust but lean into the process.

At FreshBooks, we welcome those who have the courage to change, the heart to trust, and the energy to lead and build a radically diverse and inclusive workplace—for now, and in the future.

Our D&I Framework

We’re proudly committed to creating equitable opportunities and promoting inclusive practices in all that we do. This commitment is realized through our D&I framework, which is made up of three pillars: Our Team, Our Market, and Our Community.

Our Team

To foster and promote an equitable and inclusive environment where FreshBookers can thrive.

Our Market

To create a conscious framework that reinforces our D&I philosophy and makes the world of small business ownership more equitable.

Our Community

To use our influence, goodwill, and resources to serve the communities we live in by eliminating inequalities and contributing to positive growth.

The 4E's

This permeates into everything we do.

FreshBooks Culture

At FreshBooks, our philosophy is to Execute Extraordinary Experiences Everyday. This permeates into everything we do, starting with the way we build community and culture within our company.

The foundation of our culture is defined by our PORCHFEST values, and is cultivated by our employees - who we hire from around the world. FreshBooks’ collaborative team environment makes space for everyone to participate in groups and activities as much or as little as they want.

Where We Stand

Our D&I Culture & Demographics Survey Results

Our data tells the honest story of where our journey has taken us—from the past to the present—and informs our focus on a more equitable future.

We are committed to increasing gender and racial representation at all levels of the company and have set targets to measure our progress towards accomplishing this goal.

Self-Reported Categories

We recognize that age, gender, and race/ethnicity capture only a small facet of categories that shapes us all as multifaceted individuals. In addition to these identity markers, FreshBooks collects self-reported data biennially to better understand the composition of our workforce. Of the 78% of employees that participated in our 2021 demographics & culture survey:

26%
Identified as persons with disabilities
18%
Identified as 2SLGBTQIA+
38%
Identified as parents
20%
Identified as caregivers to persons with accessibility needs and/or of advanced age

When we understand who makes up our community, we can be more intentional in our efforts to directly support and cater to FreshBookers needs. Creating equitable access to opportunities and implementing inclusive practices into our everyday actions will strengthen our path towards intentional allyship and our lifelong journey of growth.

Our D&I Champions

Our D&I Champions are team members, leaders, and people managers from across the organization. They work to collectively promote D&I initiatives and foster collective awareness and engagement throughout our community.
